Chabad Shul In Beitar Illit Welcomes New Sefer Torah

Hundreds of residents from all denominations of the city of Beitar Illit swept into the streets, rejoicing as they welcomed a new Sefer Torah to the shul and Chabad Lubavitch seminary on Mutzafi Street on Giva Bet.

The completion of the writing of the letters took place at the home of Rabbi Shalom Halevi Horowitz, who donated the Sefer Torah in memory of his parents, Rabbi Pinchas Halevi and his wife Mrs. Hannah Rachel. Many came joined in completing the final letters of the Torah including he Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Leib Halstock shlita, the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Stiglitz shlita, both of Beitar, and many other important personalities.

At the event, the eldest son, Rabbi Mordechai Halevi Horowitz, was honored, Rabbi Zvi Greenbaum, the eldest son-in-law of the Horowitz family, who wrote the Torah scroll over years.

The crowd danced and sang their way through the city’s main street, where many local residents came out to dance with the Sefer Torah.

Hakafos were held in the Chabad Shul on Mutzafi Street, one of the three Chabad Shuls in Beitar Illit.
