Disaster Averted After Thirteen People Sickened With Carbon Monoxide Poisoning at Chabad of Great Neck

Thirteen people, many of whom were adolescents, became sick overnight while staying at a building used by Chabad of Great Neck, causing them to feel ill, according to local news reports..

Emergency services responded around 6:00am to find that the air in the building had high levels of Carbon Monoxide, a deadly gas that can kill if not detected quickly.

Thankfully only one of the people showing signs of illness required hospitalization, with the others being treated and released on scene.

The source of the Carbon Monoxide is believed to be the heating system used in the building.
