Hachnosas Sefer Torah For A Special Bochur

Today, on the eve of his Yarzeit, a Sefer Torah was written in memory of Hatomim Shmuel Karnowsky, a”h.

The event began with the writing of the final letters in the Karnowsky home, then the Tahaluch went to Oholei Torah on Eastern Parkway and hakofos and a seudas Mitzvah were held in Heichal Shmuel, a shul in the dining hall of the moisad dedicated in Shmuel’s memory.

Rabbi Kalman Weinfeld, Rov of Beis Eleizer Yitzchok and close friend of the Karnowsky’s led the Hakofos, and during the seudah, family members spoke including Shmuel’s brother Ari, who made a siyum on Mesachtas Shabbos. Rabbi Yehoshua Lustig, Menahel of Oholei Torah also spoke of the many qualities he saw in Shmuel as a talmid in Oholei Torah, and how much Shmuel influenced his classmates, was a true leader, and how he impressed his teachers with his diligence and insight.

A special minyan was held in Heichal Shmuel on the day of the Yarzeit, with the kriah from the new Sefer Torah being used for the very first time.

Many of Shmuel’s friends, classmates and teachers joined in the festivities, and they recalled what a special, intelligent, happy, and caring bochur he was. He truly exemplified the finest in middos tovas.

R’ Osher and Rivkah Karnowsky have done so much in keeping Shmuel’s memory alive both
within the halls of Oholei Torah where he was a talmid, and across Crown Heights, including Beis Shmuel, with incentives for the kid’s minyan and tehillim club, Toras Shmuel a kollel that teaches chassidus to chassidishe men in Boro Park, Shmuel’s Mitzvah Tank used weekly for mivztoim and many other projects and initiatives including in Beis Eliezer Yitzchok, where the Karnowsky family are members.
