San Jose Chabad House Closes On New Building

Just six months after Chabad of Almaden faced the devastating loss of their building due to a fire, the Shluchim have already blazed a better path with the purchase of an 8,748-square-foot building.

In an article published by the JWeekly, the news of the purchase was announced, along with the realization that Chabad would be doubling in size.

Chabad of Almaden’s previous 3,246-square-foot building went up in flames after a fire started in a neighboring parking lot, destroying the entire building but thankfully leaving no injuries and the Sifrei Torah intact.

Following the Rebbe’s lead, Shluchim Rabbi Mendel and Mussie Weinfeld dove headfirst into building up bigger and better, inking a $4.5 Million deal on the new property on the corner of Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill Road.

“It is an axiom of our belief system as Jews that tragedy serves not as a setback but as a springboard to propel us to further growth,” Weinfeld was quoted as saying. “We are rising from the ashes and making history in San Jose.”

The building will begin it’s new journey when escrow closes on June 10th, hosting Chabad’s Hebrew school, Shul, and adult education institute.
