After Twenty Year’s Of Use, Shternie’s Mikvah Needs Renovations

Postville, Iowa is a small town with a vibrant Jewish community. There is are two shuls, a school, a men’s mikvah, and even a pizza shop! Postville is also the home to the only mikvas tahara for a two-hour drive.

The Postville mikvah has Boruch Hashem used on a regular basis for the last twenty plus years. With this constant use, it is showing signs of its age. The Bor Hatevilah is missing tiles and the Tevilah room itself is starting to grow mold on the walls. The Mikvah desperately needs the funds to be redone.

On Shvi’i shel Pesach, longtime shlucha and mikvah lady, Mrs. Shternie Vogel, returned her neshama to Hashem after battling a terrible illness. Shternie had worked as the manager, caretaker, and attendant at the mikvah for over twenty years. The mikvah was her passion; she gave her all in order to make sure that the mitzvah of taharas hamishpacha was kept properly. Shternie’s dream was to redo the Bor Hatevilah and ensure that this special mitzvah was kept in the most beautiful manner possible.

Today, on Shternie’s shloshim, let’s come together to make her dream a reality. We are in middle of a campaign to raise the funds to repair the Postville mikvah in Shternie’s memory and merit. Please donate generously and help perpetuate Shternie’s legacy and the special mitzvah of mikvah.
