JEM: The Rebbe’s Role In Creating A Newspaper

For many years in post-war America, the Der Tog was the only newspaper that covered any religious news. So when the famed Yiddish paper ceased production in 1971, its news editor, Rabbi Gershon Jacobson, launched a new Jewish publication. And with the Rebbe’s guidance and blessing, the Algemeiner Journal was born. The fledgling newspaper wasn’t without controversy, but the Rebbe’s instructions were clear—and enabled the paper to increase and grow its impact and legacy.
