A Pennsylvania grant program created in the wake of the Tree of Life Synagogue attack has announced more than $1.1 Million in security grants to be provided this year to houses of worship. Two Chabad Houses will be among the recipients.

Both Chabad of Squirrel Hill and Chabad Lubavitch of South Hills will be receiving $150,000 grants to enhance their security in a community still reeling from the Tree of Life synagogue attack in Squirrel Hill.

The attack was named the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history, and sent shockwaves through shuls and Jewish institutions nationwide.

Antisemitic attacks are on the rise, according to a report published by the ADL, with Pennsylvania being ranked number one in the nation for hate propaganda last year. According to the report, hate crimes doubled in the state between 2019 and 2020, reaching a 14-year high.
