JEM: Pushing Yourself To Do Your Best, The Lesson From King Achashverosh

It seems somewhat unusual to hear the Rebbe request the performance of a “Russian concert,” but that’s just one of the incredible things that happened at the Rebbe’s Farbrengen on Purim in 5733 – 1973.

You see, the Rebbe was addressing a number of Chassidim who had recently emigrated from the Soviet Union, bringing a whole new energy and some old Russian songs. It was truly a Farbrengen to remember, with many dignitaries in the crowd, including the famed author, Chaim Potok. In fact, in a fascinating talk, the Rebbe shared an important lesson for the author to learn from… King Achashverosh!
