Moscow: Preparations Underway for Central Gmach’s Annual Grand Melave Malka
The Shaarei Tzedek Jewish Chesed Center in the center of Moscow is a hub of activity.
Final preparations are being made for the annual Grand Melave Malka of Russia’s central gmach “Keren Chaya Mushka”. This year will be marking the 25th yortzeit of Chaya Mushka Lazar OBM, the daughter of Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar.
As has already become tradition, Rabbi Lazar will be the main speaker at the Melave Malka, at which many friends, supporters and donors are expected to attend for the benefit and assistance of the growing fund.
For the twenty first time, guests will gather on Motzei Shabbos Parshas Tetzave, for an evening dedicated to tzedakah and chesed, where they will be able to catch a glimpse of the many different aid programs that benefit the Jews of Russia, and Moscow specifically. They will also learn about the new projects that have been added at the behest of the Chief Rabbi during the last two years, with the pandemic causing many more people to require assistance.
This year the Melave Malka will take place at the magnificent “Sberbank” banquet hall, belonging to Russia’s largest bank, which is headquartered in Moscow. While the guests will be wined and dined, accompanied by a unique orchestra, special thanks and appreciation will be given to the esteemed philanthropists, benefactors whose financial assistance has enabled so many Jews to receive the help they so needed.
