CWA Takes Care of the Safety of Shluchim and Their Families

A group of ten Shluchim from around the world arrived in Eretz Yisrael last week for a unique four-day seminar, during which they underwent in-depth training in safety procedures and security measures which they could implement in the protection of their communities and homes.

For the past decade, with the increase in terror threats and antisemitic assaults against Jewish communities and Chabad centers around the world, the CWA — Chabad World Assistance — has been in contact with thousands of Shluchim, helping them enhance their security measures in a variety of ways.

The director of the Emergency and Security Center, Rabbi Moshe Fleishman, guided the shluchim through a variety of workshops and security facilities; over the four days of the seminar, they heard courses, received physical training and learned professional methods of prevention and protection. They also learned techniques for leadership in moments of crisis and emergency.

Since security measures must be individually tailored to fit the city where the Shliach lives and operates his institutions, these seminars are held for small groups, with participants carefully selected by the advisory committee. Similar groups are arranged throughout the year.

The security experts who led the courses gave guidance in a variety of areas of protection and prevention, involving personal security, protection of family members, and of course, security measures to enhance the safety of their communities and community centers.

Apart from these training sessions, the center also works to obtain funding for the installation of security apparatus in Chabad Houses around the world. Over the past year, it has helped over one hundred Chabad Houses around the world install security measures.
