Gems From The Schneerson Library: Drawings of the Beis Hamikdash
The Library of the Frierdiker Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, was confiscated by the Bolsheviks and placed in Russia’s state library. CrownHeights.info presents a series of gems discovered in the library and made available to the public.
The Beis Hamikdash is one of the central notions in Judaism, and not only its external was depicted in Sefarim. One can also find schemes picturing the structure of the Beis Hamikdash. The first picture comes from the book “Tzurat Beit ha-Mikdash ha-Atid” by Yom Tov Lipmann Heller (Grodno, 1788). The second one appears in the Romm edition of Talmud Bavli, Masekhet Me’ilah (Vilna, 1885) and depicts the Second Beis Hamikdash.
