First Light of Chanukah Kindled Next To The Kremlin
Despite the difficulties of the ongoing pandemic, the first night of Chanukah was marked in Moscow with a grand Menorah lighting next the Kremlin in Central Moscow.
The lighting was done by the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, and was viewed in person and virtually by millions across Russia.
Permission for the event was procured only after a special request was made by the chief Rabbi himself to senior officials.
The event was moderated by the community’s chairman, Rabbi Baruch Gorin, the people entertained with music by musicians R. Motti Cohen and Motti Edenson, who traveled from Eretz Yisroel for the event.
