Annual Kickoff Concert Returns to NY’s Largest Chanukah Event
The highly acclaimed PUPIDISA Band will be headlining the main event at Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah.
New York City’s Premier and Largest Chanukah event will once again kickoff Sunday, November 28th at 4:00 pm at the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park featuring Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah.
Last year, due to NY Covid-19 restrictions, the annual mega celebration had to be curtailed. This year, as an outdoor event, all restrictions have been removed.
The free community-wide event will feature the world-famous Jewish band PUMPIDISA live in concert, in addition to hot latkes and special gifts for the children.
Rabbi Shimon Hecht, Director, Chabad of Park Slope the sponsors of this event points out that this year, by Divine Providence, in America, Chanukah begins at the conclusion of Thanksgiving weekend. “Giving thanks most continue and increase in measure. Thanks-giving never ends. As anti-Jewish rhetoric and hate attacks are at an all-time high across the globe, it is especially important that we turn out in unprecedented numbers to usher in our holiday of miracles. We are here. We are strong. We will deliver to the world our message of acknowledging G-d’s miracles and increasing in giving thanks.”
Due to the heights of the huge menorah, the gold colored steel structure will be lit using a special 60-foot boom lift. Kerosene lanterns with specially designed glass chimneys shelter the Chanukah lights from the outdoor elements.
Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah is a project of the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE) and Chabad of Park Slope.
