Fake Kehot Siddurim Discovered Being Sold To Unsuspecting Lubavitchers

A public Macha’a published by Kehot Publication Society reported that Kehot books and Siddurim Tehilat Hashem are being sold on the open market to innocent, unaware consumers.

“It has come to our attention that many counterfeited Kehot books and Siddurim Tehilat Hashem are being sold on the open market to innocent, unaware consumers,” Kehot wrote in the Macha’a. “These include reproductions or retypeset works belonging to Kehot Publication Society, the sacred institution founded by the Frierdike Rebbe and directed by the Rebbe, of blessed memory.”

Kehot published the Macha’a with a request to the public to “refrain from using or purchasing these books, and not strengthen the hands of the unscrupulous people producing and selling these items.”

To identify a legitimate Kehot sefer from one not from Kehot, the organization advised people to check the copyrights page of the sefer, where you will find the telephone numbers and email address of Kehot (718-774-4000 /
718-778-0226 / editor@kehot.com). If the above do not appear in the book, it is a stolen and counterfeited publication.

Issues of copyright infringement is not an isolated in Lubavitch to Kehot, with a legal battle in court between JEM and RebbeDrive over use of photos and videos of the Rebbe.

Kehot ended their Macha’a with the statement that “We a trust that fair and straightforward members of anash and temimim will not lend a hand to these counterfeiters, and may the perpetrators repent from their sinful ways.”
