Torah Academy Girls High School Studies Chinuch Through Connection

Rabbi Yaakov Chaiton of Chinuch Through Connection, was contacted by Torah Academy Girls High school in Johannesburg, South Africa to offer a presentation for the Primary, boys high and girls high school teachers.

“I watched his session via Zoom,” explained Mrs. Rivky Chaikin, “And I immediately connected to the idea and approach. I was able to implement some of what he spoke about in my classroom the very next day. I must say, in a sense what he shared was more relatable and practical than hours of sessions by other professionals.”

Morah Rebecca Sarchi, principal of the girls high school, was motivated to bring Rabbi Chaiton to speak to her staff, having heard excellent feedback from teachers who had previously attended a session of his. Of all the workshops on offer, this one stood out.

Not wanting to miss out on this opportunity, the primary and boy’s high school teachers were invited to join.

For over an hour, tens of staff members were engaged, involved and focused on the presentation.

“The foundation of what I shared,” explains Chaiton, “Is the core idea of Chassidus – that ultimately we can only change ourselves and in doing so, we model the right way of living for our students. My workshops are geared towards encouraging and empowering educators and parents to consider the significant implication of words in and out the classroom, and to use each moment as a learning one.”

When asked what makes his presentations unique, Chaiton explained that many current workshops offered are focused on external toning, control, and classroom management. True change and educational impact, however, happens when we teach our students the power of internal change through building inter-personal skills and tools. He accomplishes this by incorporating CBT training and Conscious Discipline with a core focus and unwavering commitment to the values and teachings of Chassidisher Chinuch.

Rabbi Chaiton has shared his course with hundreds of teachers across the world and serves as a mentor to many on a constant basis. He can be reached at chinuchthruconnection@gmail.com for teacher training, guidance, parenting, camp staff training, and other Chinuch related needs.
