A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Abrams Center for Jewish Life this week, the new home for Chabad of Naperville, Illinois.

“We believe there are many Jewish people out there that are unaffiliated and people are looking for a connection, people are looking for spirituality and for something more,” Shliach Rabbi Mendy Goldstein told NCTV17. “And as long as there is a need, we are going to build.”

The Chabad House is run by Rabbi Mendy and Alta Goldstein, who moved to Naperville in 2005 to establish the Chabad Jewish Center.

The newly renovated 8,000 square foot facility hosts a lounge, children’s playroom, and social hall among other amenities for the Jewish community.

“The purpose is to be a place for the community to meet, grow, socialize, make friends, learn our history,” said Elaine Abrams, who with her husband Ken made the new facility possible.

Despite the new facility just having opened, already Rabbi Goldstein is thinking of expanding, noting that another section of the building the Chabad House is housed in remains vacant.
