Chof Av Marked in Pittsburgh, PA
The Chabad community in Pittsburgh was treated to special events for the Yahrtzeit of the Rebbe’s father. Shluchim, under the leadership of Rabbi Yisroel Rosenfeld, organized events for adults, children and seniors.
Wednesday night, an inspiring and spirited farbrengen took place. Anash of Pittsburgh got together to sing nigunim, make Lchaim and enjoy a fleishig buffet. Among those farbrenging and sharing stories, parables and words of encouragement and inspiration were Head Shliach and Moro Deasra Rabbi Yisroel Rosenfeld and mashpiim Rabbi Yosef Itkin, Rabbi Yosef Deren and Rabbi Yisroel Altein. Those in attendance were also treated to recollections of a visit to Alma Aty by Dr. Avrohom Heubner.
Thursday morning, the attendees of Kolel Tiferes Levi Yitzchak had their first annual brunch. The kolel for seniors, in memory of the Rebbe’s father was established in Pittsburgh in the last year and is run by Rabbi Chaim Itkin. The attendees were treated to a bagel and wrap brunch and a farbrengen led by Rabbi Yosef Itkin.
Thursday evening, the children of the community were treated to a grand Tzivos Hashem rally, with Pizza and popsicles. Together with MC Mendel “der baal menagen” Markel, the children sang nigunim, recited the 12 pesukim and heard all about the importance of the special day and the mesiras nefesh of the Rebbe’s father to make sure other Yiden could continue to learn Torah and do Mitzvos. The children watched a video about Chof Av (Maor), heard a story from master storyteller, Rabbi Yehuda Shomer and were treated to a grand raffle.
