Over 1000 Chassidim Descend On Almati, Kazakhstan For Chof Av

Over 1000 chassidim from across the globe are descending on the city of Almati, Kazakhstan for the Yartzeit of the Rebbe’s father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson.

This year, despite the ongong COVID-19 pandemic, Almati will again hosts guests at the Ohel of Reb Levi Yitzchok thanks to close colaboration between the organizors of the event and the local government.

To help provide for the hundreds of overseas guests, two luxurious hotels were rented specificly for the event, complete with kosher kitchens and chefs.

While hundreds of guests arrive for the Yartzeit, 250 Shluchim from across the former Soviet Union will also be arriving for an annual Kinus Hashluchim, with workshops, certificates and special sessions that will end this coming Sunday.

The events are made possible thanks to the generous donation of the Shaulzon families from Miami and Stern family from New York.

Among the participants are Rabbi Berel Lazar, the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, the Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan, the Vice Chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch Rabbi Moshe Kotlersky, and other notable guests.
