Awesome First Day in CGI in the Poconos
After a year of tireless efforts by Executive Directors Gershon and Devorah Sandler and CGIP staff, this past Tuesday, close to 100 girls from Chabad houses across America and abroad, gathered to begin the 10th season of CGI in the Poconos.
Following last year’s reduced program due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s goal was to broaden our efforts and reach. “Both the Shluchim and parents knew that overnight camp was crucial for youth after such a hard year,” says Director Sandler.
Understanding the Rebbe’s message about the advantage of overnight camp, where the campers are fully immersed for 24 hours a day in the atmosphere of Torah and Mitzvos, more Shluchim than ever shared this great experience with girls in their communities.
The campers were greeted by the great team of staff headed by Director Mrs. Dini Druk, a veteran educator and Shlucha in Texas and Assistant Director Mrs. Sara Lazar, Shlucha in Montreal.
The fun began immediately, with team building on the on-site professional ropes course, Kangoo dancing, sports, boating and art. The campers were especially thrilled to meet our artist in residence, the Pop Art Rabbi of MoullyArt.
“We are especially excited to start the 10th season,” said Mrs Dini Druk, “at CGIP we balance the fun, warmth and Yiddishkeit with strict safety codes, strong parental communication, and the type of environment where every Jewish girl feels welcome.”
Head counselors Rivky Berkowitz and Fraidy Thaler, known for their passion and enthusiasm, are leading a great team of counselors and specialists.
The camp directors expressed thanks to over 120 Shluchim and Shluchos from around the world who have sent children to the camp and continue to work as close partners with CGI in the Poconos.
