German Media Giant Who Said “If You’re Anti-Israel, Don’t Work For Us” Is Friend of Chabad
Last week the CEO of Germany’s leading publishing house “Axel Springer” gave a speech to the employees and referred to the complaints of some employees about the Israel flag in front of the publisher’s main building, which had been hung there for a week as a sign of solidarity after the numerous anti-Semitic and anti-Israel protests across Germany. His words were clear: “Anyone who is anti-Israel should not work for us.”
In this way, Döpfner, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Campus in Berlin, is clearly positioning himself in relation to Israel, both as a person and as the head of the publishing house. Axel Springer Verlag is the only independent publishing house to have had a corporate constitution since 1967. In it, right after “We stand up for freedom, the rule of law, democracy and a united Europe”, it says in second place “We support the Jewish people and the right of the State of Israel to exist”.
Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal, Rabbi of the Jewish Community in Berlin and the driving force behind the Jewish Campus building project, commented: “?? ??? ????? ?? ???? ??? ?? ? ??????”.
