Rabbi Zalman and Hindel Levitin, the Shluchim to Palm Beach, Florida, have been dreaming of a preschool for a while, and now they have the money to make it happen.
Eric and Svetlana Silverman of Lantana, longtime members of the Palm Beach Chabad, made a $1 Million donation to the Alef Preschool of Palm Beach in memory of Eric’s late parents, Lila and Gil Silverman.
The need for the preschool was becoming increasingly clear, Hindel Levin told Palm Beach Daily News. “Due to this changing demographic, many eligible families have reached out to Chabad of Palm Beach about enrolling their children in preschool. Further primary research, including speaking to new residents as well as established families in town, has delivered the same conclusion: Families need a Jewish preschool for their children.”
The preschool will follow the Reggio Emilia educational model, according to Levin, which “focuses on each child as an entire world and teachers that devote themselves to excellence,’
The new preschool is already planning on opening for the 2022-2023 school year, and is in the process of leasing a space.
The director of the preschool will be Shterny Schochet, with an advisory board consisting of Dr. Donna Geffner, Rochel Gordon, Malkie Herson, Darcie Glazer Kassewitz, Hayley Cooper Schapiro and Svetlana Silverman.
