Two New Synagogues Open For The Jews of Russia

In the shadow of COVID-19 and the directives of the Ministry of Health in Russia, two new synagogues were opened in Russia, with the participation of the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar.

The first building was built for the Jews of the city of ‘Pushkina’ near the capital Moscow. Pushkina has seen a resurgence of Jewish life since the arrival of Chabad Shluchim Rabbi Reuven Korevsky and his family.

Attending the opening event was the governor of the region, who expressed the administration’s gratitude to the Korevsky family, who are second-generation Shluchim to the Jews of Russia.

A second new synagogue has been built in the city of Ovninsk, a few hours’ drive from Moscow, for the first time in the city’s history. The new synagogue is an impressive and invested building, which includes a library and classrooms. The synagogue was built on the initiative of the city’s rabbi and Chabad emissary, Rabbi Aharon Golbchiner, who together with his family has been there in support for all Jews in the area.

It should be noted that in these two synagogues, areas have been allocated in advance for mikvahs, which will be built in the near future.
