College Student Attacked Outside Chabad Shul in Hamburg

A kippah wearing college student had come by the Chabad Shul in Hamburg, Germany for Sukkos services around 4:00pm Sunday afternoon, but was attacked outside by a man in military uniform.

The 26 year old victim was struck in the face with a folded shovel, but was able to escape before being attacked further.

Local security was able to detain the man, who was later identified as being a 29-year-old with Kazakh roots registered as living in Berlin. According to the police, the attacker was giving a “confused” impression at the time of the incident.

A note in the attackers pocket was found to have a swastika drawn on it, which has prompted the police to investigate the crime as anti-Semitic.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he was being treated for his injuries.
