Portland Chabad House Severely Damaged In Fire

by CrownHeights.info

While the city of Portland faces ongoing riots and unrest, the Chabad House run by Rabbi Motti and Mimi Wilhelm saw a fire not once, but twice.

Firefighters responded to the Chabad house at 2317 Southwest Vermont Street at 2:44am, after the report of a fire in the building.

The building was boarded up and vacant at the time, according to KPTV, after a previous fire on August 14th that was deemed an electrical fire.

According to KPTV, the fire was centered around the 2nd Floor attic space, and firefighters spent over an hour making sure the fire was completely out. Despite their quick response, the fire severely damaged the building.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
