Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY, became a lot brighter Thursday afternoon as a beautiful nine foot tall menorah was unveiled at a small ceremony attended by hospital leadership, local politicians, and community members.

Notable at the event were Rockland County DA Elect Tom Walsh, Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht, and Village of Spring Valley Trustee Sruli Eisenbach.

The event kicked off with introductions by Hospital Liaison Rabbi Yisroel Kahan, followed by a speech from CEO of the Bon Secours Charity Group, Mary P. Leahy, MD.

The Menorah was sponsored by Metrex Realty a Real Estate company focusing in the Lower Hudson Valley. The owner, Mr. Meyer Tauber, spoke about the importance of needing the miracle of lights now more than ever before.

DA Elect Tom Walsh spoke about the importance of all communities living together in peace, and how he will make it his priority when taking office in January.

Suzanne Lippe, wife of the late Dr. Michael Lippe, a longtime Emergency room physician at Good Samaritan Hospital, presented the inaugural $500 annual scholarship check for Hatzoloh of Rockland County. The scholarship is for children of Hatzoloh volunteers, compliments of the Lippe Family.

The event included the gift wrapping of toys that would be given out during Chanukah for the children that are in the hospital.

The children and and hospital staff were delighted as they enjoyed musical entertainment, and munched on latkes and donuts provided by Chabad of Suffern.

Special gifts provided by Chabad of Suffern were also brought to be wrapped and distributed at Westchester Medical Center’s Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital during Chanukah.

The menorah is here to stay at the hospital for the years to come and will shine its bright lights into the lives of everyone passing it. It will be prominently placed at the main entrance to the hospital for everyone to see.
