Boruch Dayan Hoemes: Mr. Chaim Groisman, 74, OBM

With sadness we inform you of the passing of Mr. Chaim Groisman, OBM, of Caracas, Venezuela, who had a unique connection with the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

Originally from Curacao, Chaim settled in Caracas, Venezuela, about 30 years ago and became a part of the Chabad community, participating in every Minyan, serving as Chazan and studying with the Bochurim of the local Yeshiva.

In recent years he served as the Menahel Gashmi of the Chabad Yeshiva in Caracas.

Chaim’s connection with Chabad began in 1984 with an amazing story with the Lubavitcher Rebbe, which can be read here.

He passed away in his sleep last night, the night of Hey Teves.

He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Below is a letter from the Rebbe to him, in which the Rebbe writes that there is no such thing as a ‘small Jew.’
