Special Minyan for Woman Who Lost Arm in Alligator Attack

Members of a Chabad congregation in Orlando, Fl., held a special prayer quorum, or minyan, on Sunday to support a Jewish woman who lost her arm after she was attacked by an alligator in a nearby river last Saturday, the U.K.’s Jewish Chronicle reported.

The alligator, reported to be 9-feet-long, bit Rachael Lilienthal at least twice, severing her right arm above the elbow while she was swimming in the Wekiva River, north of Orlando. The 37-year-old underwent surgery following the attack.

Nearby canoeists saved Lilienthal’s life by chasing away the alligator with their paddles before calling emergency services, according to the report.

“We see the jaws just chomp down on her arm,” said Jakob Frick, who was canoeing nearby, “and it starts spinning around, pulls her underwater, goes back up. She’s just screaming.”

The alligator was later caught and killed.

  • DONT FEED THEM!!!!!

This was told to us by Everglades tour guides. Believe it or not, alligators (unlike crocodiles) are, by birth, naturally AFRAID of humans.”…they are more afraid of you than you are of it. If you go into to the water, you will see them running away from you.” Another tour guide said he used to swim with them.

However, when you feed them, their “psychology” changes. Then, they think people are food. This explains alligator attacks, which injure and even kill people.

Once, a cousin of mine, in the Everglades, was walking near the water, and saw an alligator following him. When he reported this to the ranger, he said, “someone must have fed it. We have to kill it.”
