1950 Letter Goes Up for Sale
A typewritten letter signed by Rebbetzin Nechama Dina (wife of the Sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe) and her two sons-in-law – the Rashag (Rabbi Shmaryahu Gurary) and the Ramash (later to become the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe) – has gone up for sale at the Virtual Judaica auction site, with an estimated value placed between $3-5,000.
The letter was written in the month of Elul, 1950, about seven months after the passing of the Sixth Rebbe, and five months before Rabbi Menachem Mendel assumed leadership of the Chabad movement.
In the letter, written to a Chosid by the name of R’ Ben-Tzion (possible R’ Ben-Tzion Shemtov, OBM), the recipient is blessed for the coming new year with much success physically and spirituality.
Current bidding has gone up to $600, but the reserve price has not yet been met.

Ben Tzion Schneersohn?
1) R’ Ben Tzion Schneersohn was a brother of Rebetzin Nechma Dina so she wouldn’t write to him as ‘Yedideinu’.
2) in 1950 R’ Ben Tzion was still behind the iron curtain, so I’m sure that they didn’t write to him any letters on stationary with the name Lubavitch or Schneersohn on it.
Is it Shabbos yet?
I’m pretty sure it was a letter to a young BenZ Raskin, giving him a brocho for his new gefilte-fish business.

Rebbetzin Nechama Dina was the aishes chaver of the Frierdiker Rebbe. Regardless of anything else, she deserves the title Rebbetzin.
Family friend

LOL. R’ Benny Raskin most certainly did not start BenZ in 1950. He was no more than 10 years old then, probably younger.
