New from JEM: First-Person Miracle Accounts
Just when it seems to be needed most, a powerful new DVD has been released, featuring wondrous stories of the Rebbe.
Chasidism has always been known for its stories – stories of wisdom and wit, of piety and devotion, of comfort and salvation. Perhaps most well-known, however, and most beloved, are its stories of the miracles of the Tzadikim.
In the early generations of Chabad, miracle stories were actually downplayed. The “miracle” of Chasidism was viewed as its power to spiritually sensitize, revive and transform the individual; physical miracles were considered trite in comparison…
But in a 1932 letter to his father-in-law and predecessor, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch, the Rebbe observed that the needs of the times had changed:
“Miracles, and retelling the wondrous deeds of the righteous, uplift the individual, evoking a desire to shake oneself free from the mundane; they stir the soul, even one mired in the depths…”
In this spirit, Jewish Educational Media has painstakingly researched and produced a groundbreaking new film: A Glimpse through the Veil, Wondrous stories of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory.
The documentary, which features eight first-hand accounts of miraculous healing in the wake of the Rebbe’s blessings, comes just in time for the Jewish holiday season celebrating the miracles of Yud Tes Kislev and Chanukah.
