Ahavas Chesed Hosts Sandy’s Victims for Shabbos

The Ahavas Chesed Center in Crown Heights, led by Rabbi Avraham Leider, hosted a meaningful and inspiring Shabbos for several Jewish victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The recipients of Rabbi Leider’s devotion were not residents of Crown Heights, nor Chabad Chassidim, but were nevertheless cared for as if they were all members of one family.

During the Shabbos meals, inspiring words on the performance of Chesed were spoken by the brother of Ahavas Chesed’s director, Rabbi Tzvi Leider, who was visiting New York from his home in Lod, Israel, and got to witness first-hand the generous acts of his brother and the organization’s volunteers.

One family present at the Shabbos meals was the Nachman family, who were rescued from their rooftop and brought by ambulance to Crown Heights.

The family is in need of a place to stay (for 6) by tonight, Monday.

If you can host them please contact 718-221-2424 or Mrs. Gotlieb at 718-756-9459, or Rabbi Avraham Lieder at 646-805-8405.

The Nachman family returned Friday to see what was left of their home. This is what they found:
