Rebbe Rashab’s 2nd Yeshiva Celebrates 100 Years

Nearly 700 people gathered at the Ramada Hotel banquet hall in Jerusalem for an historic event – the 100 year anniversary of Yeshivas Toras Emes.

Yeshivas Toras Emes was founded by the Rebbe Rashab on Beis Cheshvan, 5673 (1912), in the old city of Chevron. It was founded for the young men living in the Holy Land, then still under Ottoman rule, who couldn’t attend Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Lubavitch – which had been founded 15 years earlier.

After the Chevron massacre of 1929, the Yeshiva was relocated to Jerusalem.

The ceremony was attended by Rabbonim, Gedolei Torah, Roshei Yeshiva and many dignitaries, as well as members of Anash from all over the world.

The keynote address was delivered by Rabbi Adin Even Yisroel (Steinsaltz). Rabbi Leibel Groner, the Rebbe’s Secretary, shared a few words as well, among others.

The crowd was entertained by Lipa Schmeltzer, who sang Chassidishe Niggunim with much liveliness, bringing the crown onto their feet with joyous dancing.
