Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who is currently on an official visit in the Ukraine, met the local Chabad emissaries on Friday.

Lieberman, who was making his way to a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, made a stop in the city of Vinnytsia in western Ukraine, where he attended the opening of a local medical center which was established using Israeli technology. The opening was also attended by Vinnytsia’s Chief rabbi, Rav Shaul Halevi Horowitz.

As Lieberman was holding a press conference, Rav Horowitz along with a local Chabad emissary, Rav Mendel Lichtenstein, handed out challah and wine to the attendees, in honor of the Sabbath.

In front of the cameras and the many journalists who were on hand, Lieberman began asking the rabbis about Chabad’s extensive work in Vinnytsia, which includes a school, a synagogue, a Jewish community center with activities for all ages, among others.

Lieberman is accompanied on his visit to Ukraine by Israel’s ambassador to the Ukraine Reuven Daniel, Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel Hennadii Nadolenko, MKs Faina Kirshenbaum and Alex Miller of Lieberman’s Yisrael Beytenu party and Lieberman’s advisor, Avi Abuhatzeira.
