Boys Rewarded for Attendance, Study at Yeshivas Erev

The Yeshivas Erev program of Crown Heights ended a year of learning with an event, addressed by Rabbi Yitzchok Hanoka, and prizes awarded for achievement.

The Lubavitcher Yeshiva simcha hall in Crown Heights was swarming with hundreds of boys this past Wednesday, 16 Sivan, ready to receive their long-awaited “sefarim vouchers,” which they earned this year by attending Yeshivas Erev.

Rabbi Zusy Sorkin, coordinator of Yeshivas Erev, opened up the grand finale with words of praise for all of the boys that devoted every evening of the week to further themselves in Limud Hatorah – some reviewing their Gemara, others joining the new Mishnas Gavriel Project, still others doing their homework or learning Mishnayos and Tanya Bal Peh.

When Rabbi Yitzchok Hanoka, tri-state coordinator of OK Labs, addressed the boys, they were mesmerized by his description of how valuable their Torah learning really is.

Rabbi Sorkin then thanked all of the Mashgichim and older Bochurim for their great devotion that made this year such an outstanding one. He presented each of them with a beautiful gift as a token of appreciation.

The evening was also the culmination of the Birchas Hanehenin Project of 5772, where the boys reviewed the halochos and the brochos of the many foods we eat.

The following boys were the top winners of the year: Yehoshua Zelig Newman, Mendel Labkowski, Dovi Bronstien, Mendel Slonim, Moti Wilhelm, Mendel Weinbaum, Menachem Mendel Rodal, Mendel Vilenkin, Menachem Mendel Hendel, Shimmy Lishner, Eliyohu Shloima Ezagui, Menachem Mendel Fisher, Sholom Ber Meizlish, Uriel Matuf, Dovid Sossonkin.

They were each rewarded with a set of sefarim.

The evening concluded with the presentation to each of the boys that attended Yeshivas Erev with a “sefarim voucher” to be cashed in at Merkos. The amount each boy received was based on his attendance and accomplishments during the past year.

Yeshivas Erev will continue this summer in the Agudah Shul on Crown Street, from 7:00 until 8:00 PM.
