Chabad Rabbis in Israel to Address Dangers of Internet

Even before Rabbonim in the United States decided to hold the kinus in Citi Field tonight, Chabad Rabbonim and mashpi’im in Israel decided to hold a kinus to address the dangers posed by the internet, which will take place this week in the 770 building in the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The impetus behind the kinus is Rabbi Dovid Weiss, the director of Merkaz Ohr Chinuch, the daily HaMevaser reports.

The event is expected to last for five hours. Rabbonim who will address the kinnos include: R’ Yitzchak Yehuda Yeruslavsky (Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Malachi), R’ Yosef Yitzchak Vilshansky (Rosh Yeshivas Chabad, Tzfat), R’ B. Zilberstrum, R’ Dovid Meir Druckman (Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Motzkin), special guest from the USA R’ Zalman Leib Markowitz and Rabbi Shmuel Ashkenazi (Rov of Kfar Chabad). Many others will be speaking as well.

The kinnos will be closed by Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg. The kinus is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 3 Sivan 5772.

HaMevaser reports it has learned that following the event, the Rabbonim are expected to release well-defined guidelines regarding internet and electronic devices.

wow, this is amazing that the true veiw of chabad comes out.

ive had enough of self appointed thinkers of chabad saying irresponsible, immature things in the name of chabad.

when are the rabbonim of america coming together?

  • Internet Danger?

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people!

The Internet is not the problem, the people (using it for bad things) are!

Long before the Internet was wide spread and everywhere, I found porn -hidden- in the Yeshiva bathroom. Of-course, I personally throw them out, but someone put it there and many saw it there and viewed it and put it back.

If it’s not the Internet it’s something else. Theres always a danger and theres always those seeking danger out.

    This is life!!!

People have to have self control and take some personal responsibility!

  • to mister three

logic dictated that you distance yourself from danger. of course the gun is not the killer, but would you let your kids collect loaded guns?

in other words, what ARE you saying?

  • Meshchistim Vs. Internet

The Meshichist cult has done far more damage to our generation then the Internet could ever do!

Messira is far worse then the damage the Internet has done. Internet= you hurt only yourself. Messira= You are hurting others and their families.

  • Internet Danger? Response

    To mister four:

Of-course i wouldn’t let my children play with loaded guns, thats logic. Just like the dangers of the Internet.

What I’m saying is that we don’t need someone telling us what is already a very obvious thing. Like fire is dangerous.

People have to have some self control and take some responsibility for themselves.

    Some facts:
Internet has been a danger since it’s creation, like everything else, it can be used for good and bad. To come now and claim on top of the mountain “Internet is dangerous” is like discovering America all over again.

Even the non Jewish nation (goyim) have discovered the dangers of the Internet, filters were invented years ago.

And by the way, just another point. Just like one can upload a filter, one who gives in to his Yetzer Hora (Evil inclinations) can so easily remove the filter.

Bottom line. It’s not the Internet thats the problem, its the person.
