Roadside Chabad House Set Ablaze

On Shabbos, unknown perpetrators set fire to a roadside Chabad house near Baqa al-Gharbiyye, an Israeli-Arab village. The attack, which coincided with the torching of a synagogue in Petach Tikvah, is suspected to be Arab retaliation for ‘price-tag’ attacks.

All the Seforim and bookshelves that were in the trailer-like shul, located alongside Israel’s Highway 6, were burned in the fire. Passersby reported that they smelled gas fumes in the area.

Fire investigators who arrived at the scene launched an investigation, but they did not indicate any findings regarding the circumstances of the fire.

Despite the extensive damage to the Shul, Boruch Hashem the flames were extinguished by firefighters before the fire spread to the gas station adjacent, which may have led to catastrophe, reported Yeshiva World News.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a strong condemnation following the attacks. “We cannot permit such attacks to pass in silence,” he said.

“Any attack against a house of worship is an assault against that which is dear to the People of Israel,” said the prime minister, adding that “everything possible will be done to apprehend those responsible.”
