This week the total number of videos available on Torah Café hit the 2,500 mark – a great milestone for the site that was launched just 2 ½ years ago.

TorahCafe.com is the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute’s online learning website that provides practical and relevant video lectures on virtually every topic in Jewish thought and practice at no charge to viewers. In honor of this milestone, Torah Café’s programmers designed a special widget that would allow these videos to reach even a wider audience.

“Shluchim are out there on the front lines bringing practical and relevant Judaism to Jews around the world,” states Torah Café Director, Rabbi Levi Kaplan. “Therefore, we wanted to make it even easier for shluchim to share these valuable videos with their community members.”

The widget allows shluchim (or any website owner) to embed the entire library of 2,500 Torah Café videos directly on their homepage. The widget can be displayed in a range of sizes and can be placed in various locations on a Chabad House’s website. Visitors who come to the website can access and view the videos without leaving the site. In this way, the videos are a feature of the local site; it allows shluchim to share them with their community without sending people to a third party.

“We are offering shluchim free access to our audio download feature for as long as the widget is embedded on their site,” says Rabbi Kaplan. “This feature enables them to take valuable research and learning materials with them on-the-go, to listen to while they drive or multi task with their other daily responsibilities.” Shluchim who embed the widget are also entered into a raffle for an iPad 2.

    uhhh….i like how you think your six different people writing the same comment (1-6, just saying…) I love Torahcafe, im sure your soooo frum and care so much about chabad people being shown ( such a chitzin) that you should write sooo many comments, Chabad.org is outdated, Torahcafe is the new!

    Who says Torah Cafe is Chabad, why does it have to be Chabad, and if it is Chabad why should they have to write that it is Chabad?
    Where are the unTznius videos on Torah Cafe?

    And just so you know, competition that involves learning Torah is not only allowed but also encouraged because it results in better content for students.

    why did Torah Cafe open up 2 1/2 yrs ago when THERE IS ALREADY A CHABAD SITE ON THE WEB-CHABAD.ORG?!?!

    A chutzpah that M. Kotlarsky lets them pour money into this project, when it can go to something else.

    If you don’t want to comment, don’t comment. Don’t write no comment and then make a comment.
    Your question about why other sites opened if there already is a site is just as flawed as your ‘no comment’ comment, it’s like asking why did a second Chabad house or a Yeshiva open if there already is one?
    And why should money go somewhere else if it can go to Torah Cafe which is a phenomenal website?

    I just wonder, if merkos allowed another shliach to set up shop in an existing shliach’s territory and open a competing program (say a FC or a hebrew school or a CGI or whatever) would the first shliach be upset? You bet they would. Then what if they cried foul and found out that the powers that be were not only deaf to their complaints but that they were actually encouraging and helping the competition? It would be pretty frustrating to say the least.

    You can’t have it both ways. According to strict letter of the law, there is no hasagas gvul in harbotzas haTorah. But according the Rebbe’s system there is. How come the same people who wil scream about one kind of fungus don’t care about other kinds of fungi?

    Why the complaining about torah cafe it sounds like you have something personal against it?
    Are you suggesting that since there is one chabad website all others are invading their territory?
    If you really think so you shouldn’t be posting on this very site, because according to your reasoning this site is infringing on a another sites territory.
    Torah cafe is a great site with great content and there is plenty of content out there that there can be many more site like it and there will still be room for all of them.

    hey its me again, the one who loves torah…please please stop the bickering, cant we all just learn torah in peace and harmony…i know this may sound cheesy to some, but to others like myself, a hadar hatorah bachor, striving for a better world, TC is fantastico!!! thats right, i am spanish…i love USA!!!
