Video: ‘Der Algemeiner Journal’ Goes Mainstream

Rabbi Gershon Jacobson used to quip: “Between the Algemeiner and the New York Times, there are about one and a half million readers, give or take.”

But what may have once been a joke seems to have become truer than ever: at least one major American TV station recognizes The Algemeiner as a mainstream newspaper.

In a promotional video created by the RT news network for an upcoming interview with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, the newspaper which Rabbi Jacobson founded in 1972 is displayed alongside such mainstream stalwarts as The Guardian, The Independent, Forbes, Le Monde and The Australian.

The Algemeiner’s April 16, 2012 headline appears at the 0:17 mark.

algemeiner is a newspaper run by lubavitchers, but NOT a chabad media outlet.

it is secular, and often irresponsible.

why do we let it into our homes?

By the way, I watch the RT news all of the time. Though Russian, they are a million times more honest than us media and they always interview great guests such as Peter Schiff, Jim Rogers, Gerald Clente, Marc Faber and many other great guests.

The growth and popularity of this paper is all as a result of its young energetic young director Dovid Efune. Dovid is a true visionary who sees the paper as a vehicle to present to the world the Rebbe’s opinions without the world even knowing it. He sees as absolutely essential the need to have positive PR for Israel and Klal Yisroel. He is unique in is ability and skill and he and the paper should be supported
