Dr. Joseph D. Cantara to Address Summer Conference
The Merkos Chinuch Office summer Kinusim for Mechanchim and Mechanchos will each feature a series of presentations and workshops on the Danielson Framework for Enhancing Student Achievement, an educational program which has been taking the country by storm.
Dr. Joseph D. Cantara, coordinator of professional development at Brienza Academic Advantage and Rabbi Yoseph Rosenblum, principal of yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh PA has been working cooperatively to develop a yeshiva oriented, professional program. He will demonstrate the Framework’s application to limudei kodesh subjects; Chumash, and Gemara. Together they will present the theory and practice, which will be followed during the school year by in-school workshops, under the Federal school Title programs.
The Danielson Framework has been introduced in schools across the country with tremendous success because it builds upon what is being done in schools rather than dismantling it.
The Framework divides the teaching process into 22 components which are clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: Planning and Preparation, Classroom Environment, Instruction and Professional Responsibilities. It analyzes and organizes the teaching process in such a way that both teacher and supervisor can better know what is being learned and how to properly assess it.

“The Danielson Framework has been introduced in schools across the country with tremendous success because it builds upon what is being done in schools rather than dismantling it.”
Sounds like a quote from their ad. What does it mean?
To #1
it means that they don;t think they know better than everyone else and every school needs to change everything they are doing. Rather, they build on what the school is already practicing.
the right balance
there are so many new ideas out there, each being very successful. it is very difficult for school administration and staff to jump onto a new idea each yaer. I wonder if anyone has a solution for it. on the one hand you dont want to be old school – not open to new ideas and ways, on the other hand, how do you balance it with almost yaerly having new iodeas presented at the kinussim and the kinnus people encourage and sort of “push” for it. what is the right balance? Teacher can go crazy from this.
