Groundbreaking Global Rambam Siyum a Reality

With the completion of the 30th cycle of Rambam only two short weeks away, shluchim around the world are in full gear preparing for the community siyumim that the Rebbe urged Jews everywhere, shluchim and anash alike, to organize for such a milestone.

Whether arranging an intimate gathering for 20 close supporters or a gala event for hundreds of baalei batim, shluchim are putting in many rigorous hours towards their community siyumim, arranging speakers, inviting local rabbonim, planning menus, and so on. As the siyum to-do list is not a short one, many shluchim are taking advantage of free resources offered by Merkos Suite 302, including customizable invitations and press releases, professional videos to present at siyumim, and more.

Why are the siyumim being stressed so strongly? Prompted by the Rebbe’s clear and direct horaos on the subject, the Kinus hachlata was that every shliach in every community should conduct his own siyum haRambam, regardless of the type of community, or even the shliach’s own level of accomplishment in Rambam.

“It’s a lot of work,” says Rabbi Eitan Webb, Shliach to Princeton, NJ, “but it’s all worth it, even if it inspires just one Jew to take on one small bit of Torah learning that he wasn’t doing the day before.”

The Rebbe discussed that part of the importance of holding a siyum Rambam is that it engages even those community members who do not yet study Rambam and will encourage them to begin doing so.

“The Rebbe urged that limud haRambam is what brings all of Klal Yisroel together,” explains Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, “and the achdus that will come from taking part in a siyum haRambam in whatever capacity possible is sure to bring the Rebbe much nachas and hasten the Geula Sheleima.”
