Rabbi Lazar Praises Putin
Chairman of the North Caucasus Muslims Coordination Center Ismail Berdiyev and Russia’s chief rabbi Berel Lazar expressed support for Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, crediting him with major achievements.
They were speaking during a meeting between Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and representatives of various Russian religious communities.
Berdiyev credited Putin with a major role in the preservation of Russia as a nation and its consolidation and complained that too much attention is paid to current opposition rallies and demonstrations.
“This shouldn’t be done,” he said. “That loud-mouthed minority will probably say tomorrow, religious leaders got together and, as one man, expressed support for Vladimir Putin.”
Berdiyev claimed that Putin enjoys overwhelming support in the North Caucasus.
“It’s probably us who are to blame for all those outcries that the elections were wrong,” the mufti said in reference to the alleged rigging of December’s parliamentary elections. “The Caucasus showed nearly 80%. Let all the observers come to the North Caucasus, and we’ll come up with all 100%,” he said.
Rabbi Lazar credited Putin with effective measures in support of Russia’s Jewish community. “We can remember how it was in the past, how difficult it was for people to go to the synagogue. They were afraid and embarrassed,” Lazar said.
He slammed appeals for restoring communism. “I think to myself, why communism? We’ve been through it all, we’ve seen it all, and people have such short memories. How can they again want all those extremely hard conditions?” he said.

I hope my brother complains about O to Putin
Busha veCherpa
The rav mi-taam strikes (out) again.
I just hope that when Putin is forced out, only his rav mi-taam and a few cronies end up having to leave. More importantly, Chabad shluchim and moisdos outside of Moscow should follow the lead of Kazakhstan and Ekaterinburg and go independent so that nothing will happen to them when the axe falls.

iran???
forget about syria
agreed
putin is a dictator now putting himself back in power
shluchim?
What happened to the notion of Chabad not mixing into politics?
Rav miTaam
Did Lazar remember to thank his boss for selling nuclear fuel and supplies to Iran, thereby endangering the lives of the millions of Jews in Eretz Yisroel?
A proud shliach in Russia
Wow, so of these comments show of a lack of intelligence on to many level’s
I will not go into the issue’s of common sense, but let me just say
1- you must have outmost respect to the Shliach of the Rebbe who established over 300 chabad center’s, 100 yeshivah’s and a few thousand ba’alei teshiva.
2- are you really so stupid to think the communist party. or the Nazi party “Russia for Russians” will be better for Jews or democracy then Putin??
3- Does anyone realize that not having any government connections in a third world country means you loose your job?
4- to number 5, I guess the Rebbe was not Chabad because he had to do with very a lot of politicians both American, Israeli and others, all the time. (or maybe having to do with politician does not make you a diplomat or a party member but rather a shliach from hashem to bring G-dliness to this world, especially from and through people who have influence).
