Biking cross-country? Just reading those words can get your heart pumping. Yet, this summer, for the second year running, the Bike 4 Friendship team aims to complete the long trek across the USA, while promoting understanding and acceptance for children with special needs.

The Bike 4 Friendship tour was the brainchild of three young Rabbinical school graduates looking to bring the lessons of kindness they spent years learning to real life. “”We wanted to bridge the gap between school and the real world,” Dani Saul said with a smile, “You know, practice what we preach.” The ‘Rolling Rabbis’, as they were quickly dubbed by the media, made it the mission of the trip to spread the message of, and raise funds for, the Friendship Circle, an international organization that provides social support for children with special needs.

This summer, the Bike 4 Friendship team will hit the trails once again; starting out in sunny Los Angeles, California on July 2nd, they will ride across the States, before arriving at the final destination in New York City, on Friday, August 17th. They plan on visiting local Friendship Circles in Las Vegas, Chicago, West Bloomfield, and Cleveland, amongst other cities along the way. A supply truck will tag along, carrying kosher food and providing bike support – making this perhaps the only fully supported, completely Kosher and Shomer Shabbos trip of its kind.

New for this year, Bike 4 Friendship is opening the cross-country experience to all comers, including busier or less seasoned bikers who can join the trip for shorter spans – as little as a day or for a week or more – giving everyone an opportunity to take part in this great adventure.

The trip is a great opportunity for cycling enthusiasts to accomplish this enormous athletic achievement while simultaneously spreading the message of acceptance, inspiring communities across the country to alter their perceptions of children with special needs.
