Chabad Pantry Packers Facility Opens in Jerusalem

The Colel Chabad social welfare branch of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement has officially opened a new Pantry Packers facility in Jerusalem on Friday.

Pantry Packers is a packing facility for dried food basics such as rice and beans, delivered monthly by Colel Chabad to 5,000 needy families in Israel.

Tikun Olam tourism is the vision of Pantry Packers in Israel, enabling visitors to Israel to spend two hours of their time volunteering in a meaningful way towards alleviating hunger in Israel.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Friday in the presence of Colel Chabad director, Rabbi Shalom Duchman, and newly installed Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Lau. The project is headed by Rabbi Menachem Traxler.
