Afther Chanukah, the Bet Chabad of Aubervilliers, France, led by the shaliach Rabbi Meir simcha Kalmenson, orgenized a Kinus Hisorerus in Honer of the end of Shivah for Rabbi Shalom Mendel Kalmenson, founder of the Kehilas Shneor institutions. The event was attended by close to 500 people.
Kehilas Shneor was founded by Rabbi Kalmenson 50 years ago, and includes a school of close to 500 children and a Bet chabad comunity center.
Many Rabbonim and Askonim of different communities in France attended, paying tribute to Rav Kalmenson, as well as his family – who remain active on Shlichus in the community.

Ish Chassid haya…R’ Sholom Mendel personified a true chossid – frum, humble, an ibergegebener chossid of the Rebbe, going to any length to carry out his shlichus of saving Algerian Jews who swarmed into Paris 50 years ago. He and his wife Basya shetichye, founded a shul, and school for the refugees who would otherwise be swallowed up and lost in French culture. This, when he had a comfortable job as shochet, and raising 9 kids ka’h. Basya drove the school bus, and cooked for hundreds of kids, and Sholom Mendel handled the financial burden. Much can and should be written about their mesirus nefesh. Yehei zichro baruch!
