Sold Out 8th Day Concert Rocks Baltimore

If you missed the show last night, you weren’t the only one. A sellout crowd turned out for 8th Day’s Simchas Beis Hashoevah at Cheder Chabad in Baltimore. More than 690 seats were sold to enjoy the energy that only 8th Day delivers.

The theater of the old Beth Jacob building, which is now Cheder Chabad, was full front to back. The front arches of the building were lit up blue, and in true Chabad style, two mobile sukkahs were parked out front for concert-goers to make their brachos in. Kids (and their parents and grandparents) were dancing in the aisle and at the foot of the stage to 8th Day favorites. Cheeribim, Avraham Avinu, and May You Be Blessed saw cell phones lit and in the air. They played some songs off their new album to the delight of the crowd.

“We were thrilled to sell out the night before the concert. We had a large group sale that bought a block of tickets, leaving only 100 tickets to sell as of Erev Sukkos,” Mrs. Finkelstein, a concert-organizer explained.

“8th Day is so apropos to the message of Cheder Chabad: Going l’maalah min hateva. We encourage our students to reach beyond their ordinary limits to achieve their full potential. The message in 8th Day’s songs is deep, and we are so happy to bring them back to Baltimore,” said Rabbi Elchonon Lisbon, Rabbi of Chabad of Park Heights and Executive Director of Cheder Chabad.

Cheder Chabad is now in its 7th year, with a preschool, boys elementary through 4th grade, and girls first grade, with more than 115 children from Baltimore, Silver Spring, Annapolis, and beyond –from across the entire spectrum of the Jewish community. The preschool begins with infant care through KinderGan, and each of the elementary classes hosts anywhere from 5 to 15 students.

And of course, the concert ended to the happy cheers of Yaalili. Concert-goers were thrilled, and everyone was soaring out of the concert ready for Shemini Atzeres and Simchas Torah!
