Girls Learn Almost 500 Lines of Tanya by Heart

The girls of Beis Chana’s Junior High, Miami, spent the month before Yud Tes Kislev memorizing Tanya during their recess, lunch breaks, and evenings. The score chart hanging in the hallway quickly filled up as the girls got tested each day. Weekend incentives, weekly call-a-thons, as well as the promise of amazing prizes, motivated the girls to put their all into this project.

On Yud Tes Kislev the girls enjoyed a small breakfast and for the last time got tested on the Tanya they learned. They then headed over to Chabad of Sunny Isles for a beautiful lunch program where they heard inspiring words from Rabbi Yoel Caroline, of Key Biscayne, about how Tanya is personal to every Jew.

The peak of the whole event was the award ceremony when each girl received a certificate of achievement as well as the prizes she earned. The score chart still hangs in the hallway with the achievements of the girls proudly on display. We’d like to thank all our sponsors who helped make this program happen.

The following girls memorized a perek or more:

Maya Siman Tov– one perek
Hadassah Spalter– one perek
Esther Rosenfeld– one perek
Rivka Donin– perek and a half
Gittee Benhamou– two perakim
