“I Go To The Ohel” – A New Book for Children

A new book telling a simple yet moving account of a child’s experience at the Ohel was recently released by Hachai Publishing. This new book is the first of its kinds and is joining a line of meaningful books aimed at children to enhance their awareness of the significance of such visits.

For the first time ever, parents can make precious time at the Ohel more meaningful and special for toddlers and preschoolers!

Published in conjunction with Tzivos Hashem, I Go to the Ohel is a simple and moving account of a child’s experience in this holy place. From writing to the Rebbe, making a hachlata, to giving tzedakah and wearing special shoes, very young children can become more aware of these important details, enriching their Ohel experience and strengthening their hiskashrus with the Rebbe.

A must for every Chabad home, I Go to the Ohel was developed with input from rabbanim, chassidishe parents, and preschool teachers. Featuring interesting, full-color illustrations, easy- to-understand text, and laminated pages, this picture book will surely hold a special place in the hearts of chassidishe children and their families.

The Book will be available on Kingston at local judaica stores.

I Go To The Ohel was written by Levi Hodakov and is illustrated by Rikki Benenfeld

  • Another Prespective...

I’m a Shliach. I write to the Rebbe/Ohel regularly, and visit the Ohel at every opportunity.
Like many of my Chaveirim, I see this as another chapter (book) in the confused messages we’re sending our kids. Yiddishkeit is being replaced by underaged Chassidishkeit and hiskashrus, and the negetive results are crying out all over CH and in every Chabad community around the world.
    Afraid I don’t get it…

  • to # 5 - I Go to the Dentist

“my son 3 yrs old ask about “i go to the dentist”!!!!waiting for that to come about!”

They don’t have “I Go to the Dentist” but they do have “I Go to the Doctor.”

in addition, I would like to note: this book is a part of the “Toddler Experience Series” which are written and illustrated by Rikki Benenfeld.

Rikki Benenfeld is a fun and creative writer and illustrator whose works make reading aloud a joy for reader and child alike. In her seven book series titled “Toddler Experience Series”, its gentle watercolor illustrations and rhythmic text, helps young Jewish orthodox children prepare for – and share – some of the most basic everyday events in their lives.

Three of her seven books are titled:
    1. “Let’s Go Shopping”,
    2. “Let’s Go to Shul”,
    3. “Let’s Go to the Farm”.

And the remaining four are titled:
    4. “I Go to a Wedding”,
    5. “I Go to School”,
    6. “I Go to the Doctor”,
    7. “I Go Visiting”.

“I Go to the Ohel” was added to this series, (although it is authored by Levi Hodakov, but illustrated by Rikki Benenfeld).

When I was a little kid I used to love “My Little Golden Books” written for children, with charming illustrations. But they never had any Jewish ones. It is heartwarming that you are now producing such sweet books for Jewish children.
