Cheder at the Ohel Builds A Mishkon
In conjunction with Parshas Teruma, Rabbi Leibel Paris’ first grade class at Cheder at the Ohel built a model replica of the Mishkon. It is complete with the krushim covered in gold, adonim covered in sliver, the tabos and even breechim connecting it all together. They also put the perachim, aron, mitzbeach and other kelim inside.
With a spirit of acdus, the children enjoyed building together. This hands on approach is indicative of the general curriculum at the Cheder. It makes the Torah come alive for the children. It connects them to the yidden who came out of Egypt, to the yidden in the midbar.
“Nothing brings a lesson more to life than for children to physically create what we have learned,” explains Rabbi Paris, beloved first grade rebbe.
