Tzeirei HaShluchim Students Tested on Gemara Baal Peh

TZFAT, Israel [CHI] — Rabbi Yisrael Roshatzy, Rav of the Hermon Regional Council and a senior Rav among the Gerer Chassidim, visited Yeshivas Tzeirei HaShulchim and spent time with its students, testing them baal peh on pages of Gemara.

The visit marked the completion of a mivtzah in which students worked overtime to master tens of pages of Gemara over a two week period.

“The high and thorough level of understanding displayed by the students during the test was quite impressive,” said Rabbi Roshatzky, who agreed to participate in similar tests in the future.

The group of outstanding students included representatives from around the world and Israel: Yisrael Kievman (England); Rephael Abergel (Singapore); Menachem Cohen (Israel); Yisrael Shapira (France); Menachem Hertzel (Israel); Shmuel Motal (France).

Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Sholom Ber Hertzel and Menahel Ruchni Rabbi Shlomo Azeraf presented the talmidim with certificates of outstanding achievement and announced the launching of a baal peh Gemara testing program featuring visiting Rabbonim until the end of the year.

“The plan is to test students at the end of the year on the entire tractate Pesachim,” said Tzfat Head Shliach Rabbi Chaim Kaplan. “The tests will continue to feature visiting Rabbonim and is sure to add kavod to Lubavitch and give the Rebbe much nachas.”
