Hakomas Hamatzaiva for Reb Volf Greenglass OBM

Family and friends gathered for the Hakomas Hamatzaiva [erecting of the tombstone] for Rabbi Menachem Zev Greenglass OBM, in Montreal today. Adorning the top of the matzaiva is a piece of the Rebbes handwriting.

When Reb Volfs wife passed away he compiled a loshon to be printed on her matzaiva and sent it in to the Rebbe for approval. The Rebbe sent it back with an addition in his holy handwriting, where Reb Volf only wrote that she was the wife of Reb Menachem Zev Volf, the Rebbe made an arrow and added these words “Harav Hachosid Mashpia Detomchei Temimim Hatomim” before his name.

These words were etched in the Rebbes handwriting on the top of his own Matzaiva.

    I hope someone can shed light on this matzeiva. Did he ask not to have any titles there any they “got around it” by having the rebbe’s handwriting? Its interesting to hear!

    i dont think anyone tried getting around anything, its a direct copy of what was asked from the rebbe on how to engrave his name when he had to prepare the gravestone of his wife,
    i think now is a time to focus on the positive and what he expected from us as students,
    People should look up to him as a great person and a true chassid & shliach of the friedkier rebbe and rebbe and try to take and learn as much as possible from him,
    and just BTW rabbi grennglass wrote in his “tsavha” (will) that he wanted the rebbe’s approval and advice on this matter and the rebbe’s handwriting is the final approval re: his title …….
    not to fall in your foot steps i would like to redirect this MSG. by saying that we now find ourselfs before “yud shavat” there are many more important things we have to focus on.

    I never had the opportunity to be a talmud of his, never interacted with him, but have seen him and heard unbelievable things from him.

    IDK if it’s intentional or erroneous, but “Lubavitch” is misspelled, and lines 3 and 4 (after the name)seem to be in the wrong order… perhaps there is some significance to this, or simply a good job on behalf of “Der Bochur Der Zetzer”
