Hey Teves At Cheder Menachem Of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES [CHI] — On Sunday, Hey Teves, talmidm of Cheder Menachem in Los Angeles celebrated Didan Notzach with a special program. Rabbi Avrahom Berns, a former librarian at the Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library spoke to the talmidim, sharing a fascinating overview of the history of Seforim and the unique collection of Seforim, Chafeitzim and Kisvei Yad to be found in the Rebbe’s Library.
Talmidim were riveted by the slide show and stories and requested to sit longer than the allotted hour.
Of particular interest was when Rabbi Berns allowed the talmidim to view and handle some of the precious Seforim from his own private collection. The two-hours of presentation left the talmidim with a deeper appreciation and interest in the history of Hey Teves and with Seforim in general.
Rabbi Berns presented the talmidim with a special Teshura (momento) of his visit; a photographed copy of a page from the Ba’al Shem Tov’s Siddur which is found in the Rebbe’s library which he himself photographed while serving as librarian.
In addition to his visit to the Cheder, Rabbi Berns made similar fascinating presentations throughout the Los Angeles Community; to N’shei Chabad, Mesivta Ohr Elchanan Chabad, Cong. Levi Yitzchok, Beis Chana Girls High School & Beis Chaya Mushak Girl School.
Following the presentations, the Cheder opened its’ annual Hey Teves Book Fair, which runs through Monday afternoon, Vov Teves, giving the talmidim and their parents the opportunity to fulfill the Rebbe’s hora’a (directive) to purchase Seforim in connection to Hey Teves.
Appreciative Parent
Thank you Rabbi Berns. My son came home very excited and told me all about your presentation. I normally don’t get much feed back from him and I have to wait unitll the end of the week to hear about these things. But, this time I received a full report.
